Podere Il Capponcino
Town: Zancona
Podere Il Capponcino
Podere Fonte Cappone and Podere Il Capponcino, these two exceptionally beautiful houses, approx. 8km from Le Macchie, lie around 900m above sea level offering a panaromic view of meadows and woods with the backdrop of Monte Amiata, known to the locals simply as ‘La Montagna’ (The Mountain). Stunning view of melancholy loneliness.
Built in the traditional style of local stone, the oldest written reference to Fonte Cappone is from around 1700. The house and it’s still untouched surroundings reflect the passion of the owner, who had it lovingly restored in 1984, since when it has been let to holiday makers.
In 2001 a second building, formerly used as scheune and stables, on the far side of the property was converted, and named Il Capponcino, (the Little Cappone). The owner, a builder insisted on the new alterations blending in with the old. eg the door and window mountings were retained, as they have a significant influence on the overall effect.
Podere Il Capponcino, the name is the dimnuitive of Cappone, but at about 110 square meters is a well sized holiday home. Surrounded by a large garden within view of Podere Fonte Cappone. Through an entrance overshadowed by ‘Porticato’ one enters the large lounge. The large fire, brick/tile floor, and wooden beams create a typical tuscan ambience, that entices relaxation. There is a TV with satellite connection. Next is the kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. To the left are two double bedrooms and bathroom. A staircase from the lounge leads to a third bedroom with double and single bed and a second bathroom.
Under the Porticato which covers 2 sides of the house, is furniture for al fresco dining, barbecue, and sun loungers, everything for a harmonious holiday. The large terrace affords a wonderful, picture-postcard view, with the peak of the Amiata in the background. In the summer as in winter the nearby forests provide a pleasant climate. The seclusion offers the rest and relaxation one goes on holiday in search of. This beautiful house, of local stone, and furnishings, the solitude and wonderful views add up to the ideal holiday home. The wunderful new pool is 6 x 12 metres!
