Quercecchio/Tetti
Town: Montalcino
The farm of Quercecchio is located in Montalcino, in the province of Siena, a part of Tuscany known for the beauty of its countryside and artistic riches and also famous for its wine.
The farm is in the hilly region near the Maremma. It covers 230 hectares of forest, pasture and cultivation including olives and grapes.
On some rural houses of the domain it is still possible to see the symbol of the Order of the Benedictines Monks "Olivetani" who are based in Monteoliveto Maggiore (a monastery located in Asciano, near Montalcino).
From a study of the Chronicon Cancellariae, a gathering of stories and events of the Olivetano Order and other publications on the subject, we know that, from the end of the XIV century until the end of the XVII century, Quercecchio was a "grancia" (a monastery with a farm) of the Monastery of Monteoliveto.
The farm is a 15th-century convent which was owned by Benedictine Olivetani monks up until the end of the 18th century.
It has been recently refurbished and subsequently divided into nine tastefully furnished, modern and comfortable apartments.
The farm lies about 10 kilometres from the centre of Montalcino and is part of the winery of the same name which produces typical wines -such as the famous Brunello di Momtalcino, extra-virgin olive oil, and grappa (strong acquavite) made from the marcs of our own wines.
The farm was built on a tranquil spot and we enjoy a panoramic view over the Monte Amiata and the hills over the area of Maremma and the valley of the river Ombrone.
We are within easy reach of the most famous towns of the region: Pienza, Montepulciano and Siena
The building is divided into nine apartments, all of which have independent heating, air conditioning and satellite TV. Each apartment has its own supply of bedding, towels, tableware, dishes and cookware.
Our guests have free access to the swimming pool and suntanning area, a park and garden with century-old evergreen oak trees, a resting area in the courtyard as well as a large parking area, and can use the washing machine in the laundry room (optional) and rent mountain bikes.
Accommodation is mostly provided on one-week basis (7 nights from Saturday to the following Saturday) but also for the minimum of three nights.
Appartement Tetti
Guests can enjoy the view of the top of Monte Amiata from the windows.
The apartment comprises a double bedroom, a bedroom with a single bed, two bathrooms with shower and a large living room with cooking area.
Beautiful traditional-style furniture.
NOTE During the period of Christmas, New Year and Easter the prices will be highseason!
