Monte Amiata is the area around Mount Amiata is an area for all seasons. Footpaths cross the area up to a height of 1730m. There are wonderful picnic areas, and streams, and lakes and hot springs for bathing. Pony-trekking, peaceful chestnut woods, medieval areas such as Montegiovi, Montelaterone, Monticello, Santa Fiora, Arcidosso and Castel del Piano.
Le Macchie
one of four small villages in Amiata, which are so tiny, that they are more accurately described as Hamlets. A true paradise for hikers and naturelovers. There are good walks in the surrounding area or more strenous hikes, like the one to Monte Labro. Close by is the Parco Faunistico, a protected area with native animals. If you're really looking for peace and quiet, unwinding away from the rat-race, this is just what the doctor ordered. Nearby is a simple bar and a good restaurant alla casalinga. In Arcidosso, approx 5km away, there is a range of shops.

Just a few hundred meters from Le Macchie down its own drive is this villa, completely new built in 2007. It lies above the lane with wonderful views. A porticato covers 2 sides of the house, from here the entrance leads into the living-room/kitchen, with dining table and fire-place. There are 4 bedrooms each with double-bed, and 3 bathrooms.
Next to the house is a swimming pool, (5m x 11m), which also offers great views of the surrounding hills. A perfect family house!
