Casa Chiara
Town: Siena
Casa Chiara
Sleeps 5 – Sqmt 130. The medieval city of Siena lies on three hill ridges which meet in the centre of the old town and accordingly is divided into three wards of terzi (thirds): to the South the Terzo di Città (with Via di Città as its main street), to the North the Terzo di Camollia (main street Banchi di Sopra) and to the East the Terzo di San Martino (main street Banchi di Sotto).
Right in the Terzo di San Martino, in the heart of Cantrada del Nicchio (Shell) we can offer this beautiful apartment located on the second floor of an historical building. The building was a convent in the past, proved by the arches on the ground floor. About 40 steps (elevator is also available) turning around the court yard, lead to the entrance of the apartment.
The apartment consists of a spacious living/dining room with sofa and satellite tv; a well equipped kitchen (oven, fridge/freezer, cooker, dishwasher, washing machine), a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a single bedroom, one bathroom with shower and one bathroom with bath. The apartment is bright and elegantly furnished mostly with antiques, although equipped with modern facilities. The apartment is a perfect base to explore the splendours of Siena, in fact nearly everything you may want to see is within walking distance and large centres of the city are pedestrian zones.
“Must-sees” include the Piazza del Campo, scene of the enthralling Palio horse race twice a year, which is about 300 mts away from the apartment. The central feature of the old town is the Piazza del Campo, a spacious scallop-shaped square dominate by the massive façade of the Palazzo Pubblico (Town Hall). The Cathedral, one of the finest churches in Italy, standing on the highest point of the town, is about 5 minutes walk away. A few steps away from the apartment, the Logge del Papa an elegant three arched loggia by Antonio Federighi. So called because it was commissioned by Pope Pius II (Enea Silvio Piccolomini) in honour of his family. Several restaurants and shops at walking distance.
Prices are per apartment and they include water, gas, electricity, linen changed weekly and final cleaning. Baby cot on request: to pay extra Euro 20 per week.
