Casabacci with Bellavista

Orcia Valley East of Mount Amiata, are two rivers, the Orcia and the Paglia. The Orcia rises at the foot of Mount Cetona, flows through a plain and then bends west through a gorge. The unsuccessful industrial development of the area and the never reliance of its inhabitants on agriculture and traditional arts and crafts have protected the original environment hardly known elsewhere in Europe. Less touristed than elsewhere in Tuscany this was an area which charmed the romantic literary movement and figured high on the ‘grand tour’. The solitude, the empty spaces, the light, the views still attract the creatively minded. The Val d'Orcia is a landscape of hills, interspersed with torrents, ravines, rugged outcrops, river banks, the colours of dry clay and golden earth, dark green moss and undergrowth covering the base of rocky crags. And sharing these colours are castles, hamlets and old farmhouses, among vineyards and olive groves. It has recently been declared a UNESCO world heritage site, in recognition of both the landscape, history and diversity.

Casabacci

This old stone house lies very close to Campiglia D'Orcia. It has been lovingly restored with great attention to detail, to create very comfortable homes. There are wonderful views over the Orcia valley. It’s divided into 3 houses, Alba, Tramonto and Bellavista.
Below the house is a swimming pool (5m x 10m), besides which a gazebo provides shade. Beside the house is an old, functioning bread oven. The house is divided into two apartments with separate entrances. This is a perfect retreat for those seeking peace and relaxation, but also well placed for trips into the surrounding area.

Bellavista
This apartment is on the sunset side of the house, below the other 2 houses.
The comfortable livingroom has an open fire, and dining area. To the right is a small corner kitchen. Behind the living room is a bedroom with double bed and bathroom with shower. Opposite another bedroom with two singlebeds.

It is possible to rent whole Casabacci 8 + 4 persons!
